During the month of September, I was knitting in the mountains and valleys of Spain, where I was walking the Camino de Santiago, a 500-mile pilgrimage route that began, for me, in France.
What an adventure! A third of my backpack was full of knitting and wool and needles. The essentials! You can see my pink backpack here, with a Fair Isle hat that I'm knitting on the path. From my backpack hangs a scallop shell, a symbol of the Camino de Santiago and marker of a pilgrim.
In the evenings, tired after a long day of walking, I inevitably sat outdoors, somewhere in a picturesque Spanish village square, and I knit a bit. I met so many knitters this way! I do love this about knitting, how our creative hobby brings together people, with or without shared language.
