Welcome to The Knitting Jenny Pattern Series with Jennifer Daley!

Fair Isle Inspired Shetland Mittens and Design Workbook

The Fair Isle inspired mittens are a modern interpretation of a traditional Scottish plaid.

This book includes two similar yet unique designs that can be mixed or matched. The design of the hands is the same, but the thumb designs differ.

This book provides all the instructions, advice, and patterns necessary to knit the mittens featured on the book cover.

Additionally, you can create your own one-of-a-kind mitten design with the support of the enclosed Design Workbook and pattern templates.

This book also includes information about Shetland geography, Shetland knitting history, Shetland knitting tools, color theory, and design tips.

The mittens are knit with Jamieson and Smith brand 100% pure Shetland wool in a 2 ply jumper weight, which is similar to fingering weight or 2 ply equivalent to a 4 ply. The mittens feature a circular knitting construction, beginning at the wrist and finishing at the fingertip. The cuff is created with a folded picot hemmed edge.

Suggested knitting needle sizes are:

2.0mm needles (for the inside of the cuff)

2.5mm needles (for the outside of the cuff, hand, and thumb)

The gauge (or tension) for this Knitting Jenny pattern is:

38 stitches and 44 rows (rounds) to 4 inches (10 centimeters) over the stranded colorwork pattern, knit in the round with 2.5mm knitting needles, after washing, blocking, drying.

The book includes 128 pages and 15,897 words with many images.

First published in the United States in 2023 by Mall & Mall Press, a publishing imprint of Mall & Mall LLC, Boulder, Colorado.

The book is delivered as an immediate digital download in PDF format and cannot be returned, exchanged, or refunded.
