Knitting Jenny Pattern 45: Fair Isle Inspired Headband features an integral knitted lining that creates a thermal winter accessory.
The book includes knitting patterns, motifs, and instructions in the following inclusive formats:
- Color Charts
- Color Written Instructions
- Grayscale Charts
- Illustrations
The Fair Isle patterning of the headband was designed with 3.0mm needles to fit a medium size head. The book also includes instructions regarding how to achieve a finished headband size that is either larger or smaller.
Two headband widths are included:
- The wide headband measures 5.33 inches in width (as featured on the front cover of the book).
- The narrow headband measures 4 inches in width.
The headband is constructed in one piece, beginning with a provisional cast on, and knit circularly.
The pattern requires three colors in Jamieson and Smith brand 2 ply jumper weight wool (or alternately substitute any fingering weight, 2 ply jumper weight, or 2 ply equivalent to a 4 ply).
The following tools are suggested for this pattern.
- 2.5mm knitting needles (for the lining)
- 3.0mm knitting needles (for the stranded colorwork)
The gauge (or tension) for Knitting Jenny Pattern 45 is:
34 stitches and 40 rows to 4 inches (10 centimeters) over the stranded colorwork pattern, knit circularly with 3.0mm knitting needles, after washing, blocking, drying.
To empower the knitter with additional skills and options, the book includes a chapter, titled, Four Headband Construction Methods. These four different construction methods support knitters who appreciate knitting construction options.
Color dominance is also discussed to support consistent, uniform stitch definition.
The book includes 12 illustrations and 30 pages.
