Knitting Jenny Pattern 76: Fair Isle Inspired Ski Hat is long as a traditional Fair Isle inspired fisherman’s kep (or cap or hat). The hat is meant to be worn folded at the crown, in the historic style of fishermen and sailors.

Knitting Jenny Pattern 76 includes knitting patterns, motifs, and instructions in the following inclusive formats:

- Grayscale Chart
- Grayscale Inverse Chart
- Written Instructions
- Illustrations
The color charts and written instructions guide the stranded colorwork knitting clearly.
Additionally, grayscale designs are included to enable the knitter to envision personal color preferences for Knitting Jenny Pattern 76, by seeing the chart and motifs alone, in grayscale, without color distraction.
Firstly included is a grayscale chart, which is a black-and-white representation of the color chart.
Secondly included is a grayscale inverse chart, which is a white-and-black representation of the black-and-white chart.
Knitting Jenny Pattern 76 features four colors of Jamieson’s of Shetland brand Spindrift wool, which is a 2 ply jumper weight yarn.
Alternately, use any fingering weight or 2 ply equivalent to a 4 ply.
The following tools are suggested for the patterns.
- 2.5mm knitting needles (for the brim ribbing)
- 3.0mm knitting needles (for the stranded colorwork)
The ski hat is knit circularly and is constructed as follows: cast on, knit the brim ribbing, increase, knit the stranded colorwork of the head, then systematically decrease at the crown.
Knitting Jenny Pattern 76 includes instructions for two design options for the brim ribbing:
- Standard Brim Ribbing
- Rolled Brim Ribbing (featured on the front cover)
Knitting Jenny Pattern 76 creates a medium size hat, which fits an adult head. Additional instructions are included for size customization.
The gauge is:
- 34 stitches and 40 rows to 4 inches (10 centimeters) over the stranded colorwork pattern, knit circularly with 3.0mm knitting needles, after washing, blocking, drying.
The book includes a discussion of Color Dominance to support consistent, uniform stitch definition.
The book includes 12 illustrations and 36 pages.
